Digital chemistry, assembly theory, origin of life — molecular complexity, programmable chemistry platforms, and co-developing assembly theory with Sara Walker
University of Glasgow / ChemifyRegius Chair of Chemistry at the University of Glasgow, Cronin leads a large multidisciplinary research group at the frontier of digital chemistry, synthetic biology, and origins-of-life science. He co-developed Assembly Theory with Sara Walker — a framework that quantifies molecular complexity to address how life emerges and how it might be detected elsewhere in the universe. He also built the chemputer, a programmable robotic chemistry platform, and founded the spinout company Chemify.
